Siemens S7 TIA Portal V17 is now available.
The latest version of TIA Portal version 17 was released by Siemens at the end of May 2021. This is their latest major version of Simatic Step 7 TIA Portal since V16 was released in December 2019. TIA Portal is a totally integrated programming environment that can be utilised for programming their S7 1200/1500 and 300/400 PLC systems. It also allows you to integrate Siemens HMI’s, VSD’s, PC’s and Starters into your Totally Integrated Automation projects.
One of the most interesting features that is being added in TIA Portal V17 is the ability to use the (Continuous Function Chart ) CFC Editor for Simatic S7 1500 controllers. CFC is a graphic editor that can be used to create the entire software structure of the CPU from pre developed blocks. Using the CFC editor, blocks are placed onto function charts, assigned parameters and interconnected. CFC has been available on other Siemens programming solutions, but this is a first for TIA V17.
CFC can be used to interconnect function blocks as a function chart to easily configure a control signal flow diagram.
